Kirami Hot tub

It is recommended to wash, rinse and dry the hot tub thoroughly and check that no water remains in the tub/drain line after rinsing. It is best to leave the drain valves of the hot tub open during the winter; for models with a rubber plug, the rubber plug is removed completely, and if the hot tub contains a ball valve, it is best to leave it half open. This will allow any water that gets into the tub to drain away and prevent the valves from freezing. It is also best to remove the filter before winter, drain it well or store it in a heated room. Cover the tub.

The stove and piping drain sufficiently through the hot tub drain valve when the hot tub is installed as directed. If a set of extension pipes is installed between the tub and the heater, check that the heater drains properly.

If the drain hose/faucet is frozen, the tub can be emptied by removing the stove from its position, and then the water can drain out through the stove's lower grommet. If the stove is frozen, an attempt can be made to defrost it with, for example, a hot air blower. If that does not help, the stove can be removed and taken to a heated room to thaw. Under no circumstances light the stove if you suspect it is frozen.

No water should be left unattended/unheated in the tub during freezing temperatures, as the heater and pipes can freeze very easily. In severe frosts, water will remain in the stove and pipes for several hours after bathing without freezing when the lid is on the hot tub. We recommend draining the tub after bathing in freezing weather, as soon as the fire and coals in the stove are extinguished.

Cult and Macu stoves do not come standard with an air vent. A place for a grille on the hatch was added in early 2018. There is now an option to purchase and install the grate for those stoves as an accessory. For example, the air grate helps start the fire in windy conditions. To get the maximum power from combustion, the grate must be fully open. If you want to slow down combustion, you can reduce the opening.

Kirami's magnesium anode rod protects your stove from corrosion that chlorine and seawater can cause. The rod should be checked annually and replaced if necessary. Below you can see the difference between a new anode and a used one.

This is prohibited because the heaters are designed for natural water flow only and using a pump would increase the pressure inside the heater. Starting and stopping the pump causes pressure shocks in the heater that could break the heater.

If sparks cause you problems, we recommend using our spark shield. When using birch or better wood, the amount of sparks coming out of the chimney is very minimal, in which case a conventional chimney cap is sufficient. The use of other types of wood (pine, spruce, waste wood) will produce more sparks, and when this poses a threat to safety, we recommend the use of a spark shield, which minimizes the amount of sparks released into the environment. Like a conventional chimney cap, the spark shield also protects the chimney from rain. During the dry season, or when there is a risk of sparks igniting something, be careful and use firewood that does not cause sparks. Never leave the fire unattended.

Use suitable small, dry and clean firewood. Also make sure the fire is as large as possible and that the firewood is not too tightly packed into the room. If your stove has adjustable air inlets, experiment to find the optimal supply of makeup air. An alternative is to use Kirami Heat It Up charcoal, which burns at a high temperature and cleanly with no visible smoke.

You should remove the coals and ashes from the combustion chamber and clean the grates. We also recommend that you clean the chamber with griel soap. Soot accumulates over time on the walls of the combustion chamber and reduces heat conduction. With our griel soap, you can easily remove even the most stubborn soot deposits.

The temperature difference between cold water and warm, moist air causes condensation in the ash compartment, so there are probably no leaks in the stove, even if there is some humidity in the combustion chamber. Significant condensation may occur when you light a fire, but if the water level in the tub does not change, there are no leaks.

Ash should be emptied after each heating to prevent premature burnout of the grates and to ensure a good draft during heating.

The inside walls and pipes of the stove should be cleaned of soot if necessary. If you use a chimney hood with a spark arrestor, it should also be cleaned occasionally to ensure a good draft.

The outer surface of the heater only gets as hot as the bath water. However, keep in mind that the heater's chimney and door get hotter than the bath water because they are not in direct contact with the water.

Almost all external heaters are more efficient than internal models. An external heater is significantly more user-friendly than an internal model, and it also saves bath space.

The stove's combustion chamber is surrounded by a water jacket. This means that the temperature of the stove does not exceed the temperature of the water inside. However, there must be a non-flammable protector for the combustion chamber in case sparks or embers fall from the chamber. Our selection of accessories includes a fireproof plate to protect the front of the fire chamber. For chimneys, please refer to the fire protection distances in the manual.
