What pool maintenance products does Pool.shop sell?
Among our maintenance products, we include those that belong to chemistry: chlorine, pH agents, flocculant and anti-algae, to name a few. What these products mean and for what applications they are used, we explain below.
Alkalinity increasing products
The alkalinity of your pool directly affects the stability of the water's pH. Too low an alkalinity causes the pH to become unregulated, which in turn affects how well the pool chlorine works. Low alkalinity will naturally occur after some time when rainwater enters your pool. With an alkalinity booster, you increase the alkalinity of your pool water, and with it, you immediately increase the pH.
Anti-algae
Normally, any algae in your pool will be killed by the presence of chlorine. However, if the chlorine levels are too low for this, algae may still grow in the water. Algae can be very damaging to your health, making it impossible to swim safely in your pool. In that case, you can also use anti-algae. An anti-algae agent kills the algae and makes your pool water clear again, so that you will be happy to take a dip again.
Anti-lime
Lime deposits can also form in swimming pools as a result of hard water. Lime buildup creates the risk that your pool filter will deteriorate, losing its function and needing to be replaced. Adding anti-limescale to your pool prevents these problems.
Metal Stain Remover
Metal stains in your pool look like dirty brown stains caused by excessive iron concentration in the water. Now you will want to address this iron concentration in any case, but the metal stains themselves can also be quite unsightly. You tackle these with a special waterline cleaner. Depending on the agent you choose, you have an additionally a degreaser and descaler in one. That way, your pool will soon look beautiful again.
pH increasing and decreasing agents
The pH level of your pool water should be between 7.2 and 7.6 to ensure proper operation of your pool chlorine. If the pH level is too high, bacteria may have free rein, which can be a major health hazard. If the pH is too low, on the other hand, the water is too acidic, which can affect your pool steps, for example. You can first check the pH level of your pool with a water tester. Depending on the results, you can then add a pH increasing or decreasing agent to the water. Just make sure you have checked the alkalinity first, as it can also affect the pH level! Flocculant for swimming pool
If there are a lot of dust particles floating around in your pool, it can look like a gray haze in the water. A flocculant is used to make those fine particles stick together, making them heavy and sink to the bottom of the pool. Then you can easily vacuum them up with a pool vacuum cleaner or have them vacuumed up by your pool robot.
Pool chlorine
Chlorine is an essential means of preventing bacterial colonies from starting to grow in your pool water. In addition, algae and other pathogens can also develop if the chlorine level is too low. Therefore, it is very important to maintain chlorine levels and replenish the chlorine in your pool regularly.
