What are the benefits of pool heating?
Pool heating has two major advantages: first, it allows you to swim more comfortably in a heated pool, and second, it allows you to extend the swimming season beyond the summer months. Of course, a fresh dip can be very nice when it's warm outside, but sometimes the water is also just too cold. Especially in the evening this can become a problem when it cools down considerably outside. And yet it can be so wonderful to keep swimming even on a balmy summer evening! The same goes for the autumn months, when sometimes it is still bright blue outside, but the sun is no longer strong enough to heat your pool water. By choosing pool heating, you can continue to enjoy your pool until October (or even well into winter!).
What forms can pool heating take?
Pool heating can be accomplished in several ways, with the heat exchanger and heat pump being the most common. We explain the difference between these two forms of pool heating below.
The heat exchanger
A heat exchanger allows you to keep your pool heated year-round - even in the coldest winter months. This is because the heat exchanger is connected to an external heating source, such as a central heating boiler or water heater. If you are self-sufficient and have solar panels on the roof, for example, you could benefit from this as well. The heat exchanger is a slightly pricier form of pool heating, but a must for those who want to enjoy the luxury of a heated pool at any time.
The heat pump
The heat pump is another convenient way to heat your pool. You can choose between the full inverter, the regular inverter and the mini heat pump. Unlike the heat exchanger, the heat pump is not suitable for heating your pool until January or February. This is because the pool heat pump takes its heat from the outside air, so it needs to be at a certain temperature to continue enjoying the benefits of this swimming pool heating system. For example, if you want to be able to continue swimming in September or October, then the heat pump is the ideal choice. Otherwise, you will probably prefer a heat exchanger. Note that there are also higher-end heat pumps that are indeed capable of keeping your pool heated throughout the winter. However, these do fall into the highest price range.
