Maintaining an intex pool, how do you do it?

Always problems with that water quality; green water - murky water - you can't see the bottom - ... What a misery! The kids who want to swim but find the water too 'dirty'.... Get rid of this and follow our steps to success - become the Poolboy/Poolgirl of the family!

The basis of healthy pool water starts with filling your intex pool, always use city water for this purpose. City water is very stable and is also healthy. The only disadvantage is that there is a lot of lime in our water, we recommend Anti lime product for this to neutralize the lime. Always read the correct dosage before adding this, for our CTX Anti Lime products the dosage is 1L add to 50 m³ pool water.

Once your intex pool is filled with city water and you have put in your anti-scaling product, the roadmap to follow for perfect swimming water begins. First, you should start by measuring the water quality - usually it shows too high pH value, low chlorine value and perfect alkaline value. Start lowering the pH value by adding pH minus (always read the package insert for the perfect dosage).

When the pH level is up, a chlorine shock should always be given via chlorine powder. Always dissolve this in a bucket of lukewarm water before administering to the pool. We also recommend always administering this in the evening, so it is nicely dissolved for the next day. For a solid chlorine shock we recommend 15 gr/1,000 liters. A normal dose of this is 10 gr/1,000 liters.

To always have a disinfection in the pool you can put a chlorine tablet of 20 gr in a chlorine float. This gives minimal disinfection and as an extra you should administer an additional weekly chlorine shock. This way you will prevent algae formation ever.

As for filtering: filter extra hours in hot weather, a minimum of 10 hours per day prevents algae formation, always clean well the cartouches. If you want to upgrade then we prefer the combination with sand filter and filter pump, easy filtering and rinsing of the sand filter.

Last but not least - always try to cover your pool from the sun's penetrating rays, covering your pool means less use of chemicals as well as less chance of algae formation.

In a small nutshell:

  • Always fill your pool with city water
  • Adding anti-lime when you have just filled the pool
  • Measuring water quality and adjusting pH levels
  • A good chlorine shock as a start
  • minimum chlorination via chlorine tablet with weekly chlorine shock as an additional
  • Enough filtering + proper cleaning of the cartouche or sand filter
  • Always cover well
