Winterization preparations
If you wish to retain the water at the end of the swimming season and the pool is not covered, you should start winterizing the pool. This is best initiated as soon as the pool water drops below 12°C.
User Manual
- Start with a complete cleaning of the pool, paying extra attention to the water line with an appropriate product and the bottom of the pool. Filter the pool for 7 hours so that the water becomes perfectly clear.
- Raise the water level to 10 - 20 cm below the entrance of the skimmers.
- Next, start emptying the pipes connected to the technical room. Also make sure that there is no water left in the pump, filter and heat pump. All pumps should be put in winter mode, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Dismantle all the steps and place the floating ice breakers diagonally across the water. Also disassemble the injectors and replace them with winter plugs, similarly for the vacuum connections. Then place a Gizzmo in each skimmer.
- If your water is hard, it is recommended to perform an anti-scaling treatment before adding the winterized product. Now add the winterized product according to the prescribed amount.(Read: the winterized treatment already contains anti-calcium).
How many winter floats do I need?
Formula: Diagonal = √(length² + width²)
Number of icebreakers = diagonal / 0.5
Example:
- Length = 10m
- Width = 4m
- Diagonal = √(10² + 4²)
- = √116
- = 10,77
- Number of icebreakers = 10.77 / 0.5
- = 21 icebreakers
Common sizes
Length | Width | Number of icebreakers |
8 | 4 | 18 |
9 | 4 | 20 |
10 | 5 | 22 |
11 | 5 | 24 |
12 | 6 | 27 |
