Description
Coupling set 50 mm for Hayward salt chlorine generators (GLX-CELL-UNION) - Hayward
A salt electrolysis cell is installed in your piping system using two couplings, and it is precisely these connections that take the brunt of the wear and tear. With this genuine Hayward coupling set (GLX-CELL-UNION), you’ll have a complete 50 mm union connection that allows you to reseal a leaking or worn coupling. It’s a small part, but one that makes all the difference between a dry utility room and an annoying drip under your cell.
The set is designed for the Hayward Turbo Cell and GLX-Cell series and connects seamlessly to the well-known Hayward salt chlorine generators, including the Aquarite systems. Since this is an original Hayward part, you can be sure that the dimensions and threading are exactly right.
What's Included
You’ll receive one complete coupling set: the union nut, the matching tailpiece (2-inch slip), and the O-ring that provides the seal. This will allow you to fully restore one side of the cell to working order. When placing your order, please keep in mind that a cell has a coupling on both sides—if you want to replace both, order two.
Will this fit my system?
The connection size is 50 mm, which is 2 inches in the American Hayward designation. This is the standard size for the Turbo Cell and Aquarite cells (T-Cell), including the Low Salt models. Not sure if your piping is 50 mm? Just measure the outer diameter of the pipe or check the existing coupling. If the old one fits perfectly, then this set is the right replacement.
Installation and Maintenance Tips
A few things to keep in mind when replacing the set. Never forget to install the O-ring, and make sure it is clean and undamaged as it sits in the groove—that is your most important seal. Tighten the union nut firmly by hand; avoid using pliers, as tightening it too hard can damage the plastic or deform the O-ring. If necessary, lightly lubricate the O-ring with some acid-resistant silicone grease; this will allow the nut to slide more smoothly and help the seal last longer. Always depressurize the system before unscrewing anything to avoid water spraying out.
