How does an Intex Solar Mat work?

One Intex Solar Mat measures 120 x 120 cm and is made up of several pipes that run through the heating mat like an S-pattern. This creates an effective surface area of 1m2 within which the water can be heated. Because the Intex Solar Mat is colored black, the heat is better retained. The water pumped around by an Intex filter pump or sand filter pump is thus gradually heated and pumped back into the pool. The result is an efficiency of 3 to 5 degrees celcius on a nice sunny day.

Placement Intex Solar Mat

We recommend always placing the Intex solar mats next to the pool on the ground. This allows the water to flow through with the proper flow. Basically, the solar mats are not suitable for mounting on a shed or roof. Besides the fact that the Intex pumps are not powerful enough to pump up the water, you run the risk with another pool pump that too much pressure will be put on the connection of the solar mat causing it to crack and leak.
