It is recommended to wash the hot tub, rinse it and dry it thoroughly, and to check that no water remains in the tub/in the drainage pipe after rinsing. It is best to leave the hot tub's drainage valves open in winter; on models with a rubber plug, the rubber plug should be completely removed, and if the hot tub has a ball valve, it is best to leave it half open. This allows any water that gets into the tub to drain away, so the valves do not freeze and break. It is also best to remove the filter before winter, let it drain thoroughly or store it in a heated room. Cover the tub.

The heater and the pipework drain sufficiently through the hot tub's drain valve, provided the hot tub has been installed according to the instructions. If a set of extension pipes has been installed between the tub and the heater, check that the heater drains properly.

When the drain hose/tap is frozen, the tub can be emptied by removing the heater from its place, after which the water can drain away through the heater's lower outlet. When the heater itself is frozen, you can try to defrost it with, for example, a hot air blower. If this does not help, the heater can be removed and taken to a heated room to defrost. Under no circumstances should you light the heater if you suspect it is frozen.

In freezing conditions, no water should be left unattended/unheated in the tub, as the heater and pipes can freeze very easily. In severe frost, the water remains in the heater and pipes for a few hours after bathing without freezing, as long as the hot tub's lid is in place. We recommend that, in freezing conditions, you drain the tub after bathing, as soon as the fire and embers in the heater have gone out.

Cult and Macu stoves do not have an air vent as standard. In early 2018, a place for a vent was added to the hatch. There is now an option to purchase and install the vent for these stoves as an accessory. The air vent helps, for example, when starting the fire in windy conditions. To get the maximum output from the combustion, the vent must be fully open. When you want to slow down the combustion, you can reduce the opening.

Kirami’s magnesium anode rod protects your heater against corrosion that chlorine and seawater can cause. The rod should be checked annually and replaced if necessary. Below you can see the difference between a new anode and a used one.

This is prohibited, because the heaters are only designed for natural water flow and the use of a pump would increase the pressure in the heater. Starting and stopping the pump causes pressure shocks in the heater that could break it.

If sparks are causing you problems, we recommend using our spark guard. When using birch or better wood, the amount of sparks coming out of the chimney is very minimal, in which case a conventional chimney cap is sufficient. The use of other types of wood (pine, spruce, waste wood) will cause more sparks, and when this poses a safety risk, we recommend using a spark guard, which minimises the amount of sparks released into the environment. Like a conventional chimney cap, the spark guard also protects the chimney against rain. During the dry season, or if there is a risk that sparks could ignite something, you should be careful and use firewood that does not cause sparks. Never leave the fire unattended.

Use suitable small, dry and clean firewood. Also ensure as large a fire as possible and make sure the firewood is not packed too tightly in the chamber. If your stove is fitted with adjustable air inlets, experiment to find the optimal supply of make-up air. An alternative is to use Kirami Heat It Up charcoal, which burns at a high temperature and cleanly without visible smoke.

You need to remove the coals and ash from the combustion chamber and clean the grates. We also recommend cleaning the chamber with green soap. Soot builds up on the walls of the combustion chamber over time and reduces heat conduction. With our green soap you can easily remove even the most stubborn soot deposits.

The temperature difference between cold water and warm, humid air causes condensation in the ash compartment, so there are probably no leaks in the heater, even if there is some moisture in the combustion chamber. Considerable condensation can occur when you light a fire, but if the water level in the tub does not change, there are no leaks.

The ash must be emptied after each heating session to prevent the grates from burning through prematurely and to ensure good draught during heating.

The inner walls and pipes of the heater must be cleared of soot when necessary. If you use a chimney cap with a spark arrestor, this should also be cleaned occasionally to ensure good draught.

The outer surface of the heater only gets as hot as the pool water. However, please note that the chimney and the door of the heater become warmer than the pool water, as they are not in direct contact with the water.

Almost all external heaters are more efficient than internal models. An external heater is considerably more user-friendly than an internal model, and it also saves bathing space.

The combustion chamber of the heater is surrounded by a water jacket. This means that the temperature of the heater is never higher than the temperature of the water in the heater. However, a non-flammable guard must be present in front of the combustion chamber in case sparks or embers fall out of the chamber. Our selection of accessories includes a fire-resistant plate to protect the front of the combustion chamber. For chimneys, please refer to the fire safety distances in the manual.
