Maintaining an Intex pool, how do you do it?
Constant problems with water quality; green water – cloudy water – you can't see the bottom – … What a nuisance! The children who want to swim but find the water too ‘dirty’.. Put an end to this and follow our steps to success – become the Poolboy/Poolgirl of the family!
The basis of healthy pool water starts with filling your Intex pool, always use tap water for this. Mains water is very stable and is also healthy. The only downside to this is that our water contains a lot of limescale; for this we recommend an anti-limescale product to neutralise the limescale. Always read the correct dosage before adding this, with our CTX Anti-limescale products, the dosage is to add 1L per 50 m³ of pool water.
When your Intex pool is filled with mains water and you have added your anti-limescale product, the following step-by-step plan for perfect swimming water begins. First, you need to start with measuring the water quality – this usually shows a pH value that is too high, a low chlorine value and a perfect alkalinity value. Start by lowering the pH value by adding pH minus (always read the instructions for the correct dosage).
Once the pH value is at the correct level, you should always chlorine shock be given via chlorine powder. Always dissolve this in a bucket of lukewarm water before adding it to the pool. We also always recommend applying this in the evening, so it is nicely dissolved by the next day. For a strong chlorine shock, we recommend 15g/1,000 litres. A normal dose of this is 10g/1,000 litres.
To always have disinfection in the pool, you can 20g chlorine tablet place this in a chlorine floater. This provides minimal disinfection, and as an extra measure, you should apply an additional chlorine shock weekly. This way, you prevent algae formation.
As for filtering: filter for extra hours in warm weather, a minimum of 10 hours per day prevents algae formation; always clean the cartridges thoroughly. If you want to upgrade, we recommend the combination with a sand filter and filter pump, for easy filtering and rinsing of the sand filter.
Last but not least – always try to cover your pool against the penetrating sun rays; covering your pool means using fewer chemicals as well as a reduced risk of algae formation.
In a nutshell:
- Always fill your pool with mains water
- Add anti-limescale product once you have filled the pool
- Measure water quality and adjust the pH value
- A good chlorine shock to start
- Minimal chlorine level via chlorine tablet with a weekly chlorine shock as an extra
- Sufficient filtering + thorough cleaning of the cartridge or sand filter
- Always cover properly
