Description
Tapping saddle diam. 50 mm for electrode for BL12x/BL13x/HI5x0 (BL120-550)
You have brought home a fine Hanna pool controller, but then the question arises: how do you mount that pH or chlorine electrode neatly and leak-free in your pipe? A probe that hangs loose in a bucket or is half-clamped in a fitting gives unreliable readings and guaranteed leaks. This tapping saddle from Hanna Instruments (item code BL120-550) solves exactly that problem. It is the official mounting piece for placing your electrode directly and watertight in a 50 mm PVC pipe.
With this saddle, your probe measures permanently in the flow of your pool, spa or hot tub system, so that your controller continuously receives a representative and stable signal.
Does this saddle fit your installation?
The saddle is made for a PVC pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and has a 1¼” thread for the electrode. It is intended for inline mounting on the Hanna pool controllers from the BL12x, BL13x and HI5x0 series, including for example the BL-131 and BL-132, which automatically measure and control your pH and free chlorine. Do you have a thicker pipe? Then take a look at the versions for 63 mm or 75 mm; for the standard 50 mm pipe, this is the right one for you.
Worry-free installation
The saddle is supplied with the matching sealing O-ring, which you place in the upper part of the saddle for a reliable watertight connection. For installation, you drill an opening in the PVC pipe of 29 to 32 mm. Equally important: after drilling, remove the burrs and lightly sand the surface so that the rubber O-ring seals perfectly. Then you screw the electrode into the saddle and everything is in place.
Handy when calibrating
A pleasant detail: once the probe is in the saddle, you can carry out a single-point pH calibration to align the measured value with your handheld meter — without removing the electrode from the saddle. This saves hassle and keeps your measurements accurate in the long term.
