Description
pH neutral calibration fluid (for Sugar Valley)
A reliable pH reading starts with a properly calibrated sensor. With this pH neutral calibration fluid, you accurately adjust the pH electrode of your Sugar Valley system to the neutral value of pH 7, so your installation once again measures precisely what is really happening in your pool water.
The fluid has manufacturer code TA203 and is specially matched to Sugar Valley controllers, so you can be sure you are working with the correct reference.
Why calibration is important
A pH sensor is not a component that keeps measuring exactly forever. Over time, due to the water and the salt chlorinator, the electrode gradually ages and the reading can start to drift. If your system thinks the pH is at 7 when in reality it is not, it will automatically dose too much or too little pH-minus. With this neutral calibration fluid, you bring the reading back to the correct zero point.
When to use this fluid
I recommend calibrating at the start of the season, when you put the pool back into use after winterising. A fresh calibration is also necessary after replacing the pH electrode. If you notice in the meantime that the measured pH value no longer matches a manual check, that is the moment to recalibrate. In practice, this usually comes down to once or twice a season, depending on how intensively your pool is used.
How to use it
For a proper calibration, you generally use two reference fluids: this neutral pH 7 fluid and a second value, often pH 4 or pH 9. You immerse the cleaned electrode in the fluid, let the reading stabilise, and confirm the measurement in the menu of your Sugar Valley controller. Then briefly rinse the sensor with clean water before putting it back. This ensures accurate automatic dosing and keeps your water effortlessly balanced.
