Description
Storage caps for pH electrodes, 5 pieces – HI740200
A pH electrode is the heart of every reliable measurement, and it's precisely that fragile glass bulb at the tip that needs proper care. This set of 5 storage caps from Hanna Instruments ensures that your electrode stays neatly hydrated between measurements and is protected against drying out and contamination. This keeps your measurement accurate and considerably extends the life of your electrode.
At Pool.shop, we notice that many people underestimate how much influence the storage of an electrode has on accuracy and lifespan. A dried-out tip gives slow, unreliable readings — and that is exactly what you don't want when you want to keep your water quality well under control.
Why a good storage cap makes the difference
The tip of a pH electrode must always stay moist. These plastic caps are designed so that you pour in a small layer of storage solution, in which the bulb of the probe can calmly “breathe”. You then tighten the screw collar for a tight seal, so that nothing evaporates and the cap stays firmly in place — even during longer storage or transport.
How to use them in practice
Rinse the electrode after use, gently pat it dry with a soft tissue and then pour about 1 cm of storage solution (HI70300, available separately) into the cap. Place the tip of the probe in it and tighten the collar. Want to take the electrode out again? First loosen the top collar to vent the cap before removing it — of course, keep the cap and collar for next time.
Mind the size
These caps are designed for pH electrodes with a shaft diameter of 12 mm. Not sure whether your electrode fits? Simply check the diameter of the shaft to make sure you're making the right choice.
For the pool owner who takes it seriously
If you work with a professional pH meter and want to rely on your measurements for years to come, these storage caps are simply essential pool maintenance. With five pieces in the pack, you also have spares on hand straight away, so you're never left without one if one gets damaged. A small investment that considerably extends the life of your electrode — and your measurement accuracy.
