A pH value that's too low is one of the most common causes of cloudy water, stinging eyes and chlorine that doesn't do its job properly. With this pH plus powder from HTH, you raise the pH back to the ideal level, so your pool water feels pleasantly soft and your disinfectant keeps performing optimally. The generous 5 kg pack is intended for those with a larger above-ground or in-ground pool who don't want to keep topping up.
HTH is one of the best-known names in pool and spa water treatment, and this powder, based on sodium carbonate, dissolves almost instantly in the water thanks to its fine form. Handy: the pack includes a measuring cup, so you can measure out exactly the right amount.
When do you need pH plus?
The ideal pH value for pool water lies between 7.2 and 7.6. If you measure a lower value, the water is too acidic and the chlorine is lost more quickly, while your skin and eyes may suffer as a result. In that case, raise the pH with this powder. Always measure your current value first before adding anything — this prevents you from using too much or too little.
How to dose accurately
As a guideline: approximately 150 grams per 10 m³ of water raises the pH by around 0.2 units. First dissolve the measured amount in a bucket of warm or pool water, then distribute it evenly across the pool. You'll find a handy dosage table on the packaging. Let the filtration run for a while after adding, then measure again after a few hours so you can adjust precisely.
Handling the powder safely
Always add the powder to the water and never the other way round, and never use it at the same time as other chemicals such as chlorine — leave at least a few hours between them. Wear eye or face protection when handling it, as the product can cause serious eye irritation (H319), and wash your hands thoroughly after use. Store the pack dry, cool and tightly closed.
