Description
Capacitor 5 μF – 48 x 18 mm (incl. Mega Pool SS020)
This 5 μF capacitor is a small but essential part in the start-up of your pool pump motor. Do you notice that your pump hums but no longer starts, or no longer reaches full speed? Then a weakened or defective capacitor is often the culprit. With this replacement part you give your pump the right starting pulse again, without having to buy a completely new pump straight away.
The capacitor measures 48 x 18 mm and is intended, among others, for the Mega Pool SS020, but is also used in various similar pump motors.
Does this capacitor fit your pump?
Before you order, it's wise to check two things. First, look at the value printed on the old capacitor: this must be exactly 5 μF. A different value can overload the motor or give too little torque. Also measure the dimensions (48 x 18 mm), so the part fits neatly in the housing or terminal box of your motor. If both match, you're good to go.
What to pay attention to when replacing it
Always switch the pump fully off and disconnect it from power before you get started, and unplug it from the socket. A capacitor can still hold a charge even after switching off, so discharge it safely before disconnecting the wiring. Take a photo of the connections before removing the old one, so you know for sure you'll connect the new one the same way. Not sure about the electrical connection? Then have the job done by someone with technical knowledge.
Replacing on time pays off
A capacitor is a wear part that loses capacity over time, especially if the pump runs many operating hours. Replacing it in time prevents the motor from being unnecessarily overloaded and extends the lifespan of the whole pump. Do you have questions about the right choice for your type of pump? At Pool.shop I'm happy to help you find the right part.
