AFM is activated and produced from recycled glass and therefore an ecological product. Activated filter glass is the perfect alternative to you filter sand. In the production of AFM with ensures the lowest possible dust content, so bacterial growth is significantly less than with similar filter glass types. Activated filter glass is completely sterilized and requires about 50% less rinse water to clean the filter mass.

AFM exists in different types (finenesses) and is packed in 21kg bags. The coarsest filter glass is 2.0 - 4.0mm grain size. The finest filter material is 0.5-1.0mm. Lifespan of AFM filter glass
Unlike filter sand, which is best replaced every 5J, you should replace activated filter glass only every 10 - 15J.
