Drilling saddles for pool installations
Drilling saddles are indispensable fittings in the world of swimming pool technology and PVC installations. They allow you to easily and quickly make a branch on an existing PVC pipe without having to cut it completely. This is useful, for example, when you later want to add a heat pump, automatic chlorine pump or other accessory to your pool installation. Installation is simple, space-saving and particularly reliable.
What is a tapping saddle?
A tapping saddle consists of a bracket that you clamp around an existing PVC pipe. In the saddle is an opening in which you make a tapped hole using a drill bit. You then attach a coupling or faucet in the saddle through which you can drain or supply water. Most tapping saddles are held securely in place with stainless steel bolts, and the rubber seal ensures a leak-free connection. It is a common solution in pool, pond and irrigation systems.
What do you use a tapping saddle for?
Drill-on saddles are extremely versatile. You use them for, among other things:
- Creating a bypass for heat pumps, UV-C systems or hot water exchangers
- Installing dosing pipes for automatic pH or chlorine control
- Adding a branch for additional piping or return flows
Different sizes and applications
Drill-on saddles are available for pipes of different diameters, from 50 mm to 110 mm, for example. The connection on top of the saddle can also vary, usually in the form of a ½", ¾" or 1" female thread. So when making your choice, pay close attention to the size of your existing pipe as well as what you want to connect to it.
Benefits of tapping saddles
- Easy assembly without sawing
