Swimming pool PVC T-pieces: splitting pipes without pressure loss

In a pool installation, you want to be able to divide and direct water flows. For this, PVC T-pieces are indispensable. They provide a solid branch in your pipe route, so that you can, for example, split one suction pipe into several circuits, or add an extra return pipe without improvising with unreliable couplings.

Applications of PVC T-pieces in pool technology

T-pieces are often used for extensions or clever construction of the technical installation. Think of making a bypass for a heat pump or UV-C system, connecting an extra injector, or providing a branch to an automatic dosing pump. Even in pools with multiple suction points (skimmer and bottom drain), a T-piece can help keep the piping organized.

What diameter do you need?

The most common diameters for pool PVC are 50 mm and 63 mm. A 50 mm T-piece is mainly used for standard private pools, while 63 mm is more often chosen for higher flow rates or longer pipe runs. It is important that your T-piece exactly matches the diameter of your PVC pipe so that you get a good fit and strong glue joint.

There are also variants with unequal diameters (e.g. 63/50), useful when going from a main pipe to a smaller branch.

Gluing for a watertight connection

Most pool PVC T-pieces are intended for gluing. For a reliable connection, work best with PVC cleaner and a suitable PVC glue. Make sure your pipe is cut straight, slightly deburred and completely dry before gluing. Correct assembly prevents air entry, leakage and unnecessary resistance in the pipe.
